Beginner Guitar Lessons

Getting Started

These beginner guitar lessons are a great place to learn how to play the guitar. I will teach you the basics of guitar, the notes, the string names and how to read tab. The most important lesson will be the chords, after all, there is no way you can play rhythm guitar without knowing how to do that!.

Rhythm guitar is where any guitarist should start. Lets face it, you have to learn to crawl before you can walk. The same is true when learning to play the guitar. You can't jump right into playing solos if you can't keep a rhythm.

It doesn't matter what level guitarist you are right now. These guitar lessons will have something for anyone, whether you have never picked up a guitar before or if you just want to learn a new chord or two.

Anyone can learn to play the guitar if time is set aside for practice. If you follow the guitar lessons and really take them in, you will be able to play the guitar in short amount of time. It is important enough to repeat. Practice, Practice, Practice. Any of your favorite guitarists had to start this way.

I can't stress enough the importance of taking these beginner guitar lessons in the order of the way they are intended. I know it's tempting to jump ahead of the lessons and start playing solos right away. This kind of thing will be the quickest way to get lost and recovering from this is extremely hard to do.

Start slow and work on playing smoothly. When you get to the guitar tab lesson, you will have a couple of exercises. One designed to help you with picking and fingering coordination, and another that will help you with chord changes. Make slow fluid changes until you are comfortable with the exercise, then slowly build speed. If you do this you get so much more from these beginner guitar lessons than if you just try to fly through them.

If you are just getting started you may need to buy acoustic guitar. As you may already know, If you buy electric guitars, you will also need a guitar amp. Check out the guitars and amps page to shop for good guitars for beginners.
