About Me

My name is Michael Vowell and I have been playing guitar for 26 some odd years now. When I learned to play the guitar I was just like anybody else and wanted to jump in and play solos before I knew anything about the guitar. I learned real fast if I ever wanted to play with other competent guitarists, I needed to find out what I was doing.

This is why I decided to start this website. I hope you learn enough from it to at least get you started. I promise there is a lot more to learn.

Back to who I am. After I finally broke down and learned what I was doing, I began to play with friends and found that this was much more than a hobbie.

I was with a band called In Harms Way for nine years. We traveled all over the southeast playing everything from Steve Miller to Metallica. Man, that was some of the funnest times of my life. Got to meet all kinds of people and partake in many parties.

Then, the other guys in the band began to move on with their lives. Some got jobs and couldn't commit to the time it took for us to travel, others got married and had kids. All a part of life. We are all still close friends and a couple of guys still play to this day with a band called Mad Fish Willy. If you are in the south and hear of a show these guys are playing, check it out, they still rock!
